Earth Hour, is it still relevant?

Not everything is as what it seems to be, we all witnessed the aftermath of earth hour concerts, earth hour marathons and other earth hour events. Is this what we considered as green? Buy an earth hour t-shirt and think you helped earth? Is it really that simple?
